Queen Excluder
Overview

Typical Langstroth Hive Parts
A queen excluder is used to stop the queen from laying eggs in the honey supers. It is installed above the brood chamber, and below the honey supers.
Usage Notes
Queen excluders can also be used when splitting a hive if you are unable to find the queen. You can insert the queen excluder between the brood chamber boxes, and wait a little while. Then the boxes which have eggs and larva in them also contain the queen.
