Control Methods

Cultural

  1. Strong colony
  2. Emplace hives in full sun so that they stay warm
  3. Remove uneaten pollen patties
  4. Keep apiaries free of combs, cappings, and wet frames
  5. Extract honey from harvested supers.
  6. Beetle trap / jail.

    • Deadouts

Treatment Methods

Cultural

  1. Beetle trap / jail.

Chemical

  1. CheckMite+ can be used for treating inside the hive. I have seen little about it and would be quite cautious before using it.
  2. GardStar can be used for treating the ground below the hives (where SHBs pupate). I have seen little about it and would be quite cautious before using it.
